Counselor:  Older Adolescent Group Home
Overnight Worker (Part Time):  Boys Group Home
Tutor (Part Time)

Counselor:  Older Adolescent Group Home

Perform a variety of casework services for Older Adolescent Group Home residents and assist residents within agency policies, procedures and practices to assess their needs.

Specific duties include:

bulletResident supervision and teaching
bulletHouse management
bulletProgram administration

Candidates must:

bullet

Be at least 21 years of age in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards for group homes.

bullet

Have an undergraduate degree in human services from an accredited school and previous experience.

bullet

Meet child care facility driver requirements in accordance with DCFS.

bullet

Have a valid driver's license, an automobile, and adequate automobile insurance.

bullet

Become certified in CPR and first aid within six months of employment.

bullet

Complete a medical and TB test and provide proof of results.

bullet

Be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full background check through DCFS.

bullet

Submit official educational transcripts from the last school from which a degree was awarded.

bulletBe able to lift 40 lbs.

Overnight Worker (Part Time):  Boys Group Home

Supervise Boys Group Home residents throughout the night and assist residents within agency policies, procedures and practices to assess their needs.

Specific duties include:

Supervising and teaching residents

bullet

House management

bullet

Program administration

bullet

Intake

Candidates must:

bullet

Be at least 21 years of age in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards for group homes.

bullet

Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.  Undergraduate degree in human services and residential experience desired.

bullet

Meet child care facility driver requirements in accordance with DCFS.

bullet

Have a valid driver's license, an automobile, and adequate automobile insurance.

Tutor (Part Time)

Provide educational support and development to residents who are not enrolled or cannot attend school, as well as provide educational enhancement to residents who are able to attend school while in placement.  Specific responsibilities include:

Providing educational opportunities for group home residents.

bullet

Assessing educational needs for identified residents in placement.

bullet

Developing appropriate assignments that will assist residents in developing learning skills.

bullet

Working with youths on a one-to-one or group basis, as required, to establish and accomplish educational goals.

bullet

Encouraging and motivating youths to develop realistic educational goals.

bullet

Providing advocacy services on behalf of youth in negotiating educational services with local school districts.

bullet

Providing tutorial support to youths already enrolled in school who may need additional help with specific subjects.

bullet

Coordinating

bulletComplying with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Children and Family Services Code of Ethics for Child Welfare Professionals.

Candidates must:

bullet

Hold a current secondary teaching certificate from the State of Illinois. A special education degree and an MA in education are desired.

bullet

Have experience working with behavior disordered and learning disordered youth.

bullet

Have a valid Illinois driver’s license and submit proof of Illinois auto insurance.

bullet

Complete a medical and TB test providing proof of results.

bullet

Be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and submit to a full background check.

bullet

Submit official academic transcripts from the last school from which a degree was awarded.

bulletBe able to lift 30 lbs.
