As soon as children and adolescents walk through our door, Shelter, Inc. staff members work to create a welcoming and safe environment to ease the pain of the current crisis. During their stay, we provide both the emotional and physical care these children need.

  • 24-hour emergency housing services, 365 days a year
  • 24-hour referral services, 365 days a year
  • Professional staff supervision, 24 hours a day
  • Transportation to the child's own school whenever possible
  • Individual, group and family counseling at each group home facility
  • Health screening for each child in our care by Shelter, Inc's nursing consultant
  • Physical examination for each child in our care
  • Clothing, prescription drugs, personal hygiene items and small allowance to children from indigent families
  • 30-day follow-up services for each child after placement is terminated to determine how each child is doing and whether or not the family is in need of further assistance

We also provide:

  • Recruitment, licensing, training and supervision of foster families who assist staff in making our children's services available 24 hours a day
