Older Adolescent Group Home

Shelter, Inc.'s Older Adolescent Group Home (OAGH) is a program for adolescent males in the Northwest Suburb of Arlington Heights. OAGH provides a homelike setting that focuses on independant living skills through active participation in home functions as well as structured involvement within the community.  Designed for goal-orientated males ages 16 thru 18, OAGH offers a safe and stable environment for residents to prepare for transition into living on their own and becoming self-sufficient. 

 

Our experienced and professional counselors strive to motivate residents and facilitate the learning of basic living and social skills such as:

  • Attending and participating in school full time
  • Obtaining and maintaining employment
  • Developing interpersonal relationships and socializing skills
  • Menu planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation
  • Accessing and managing medical and dental care
  • Obtaining and maintaining a checking and savings account
  • Establishing credit

Our program provides:

  • Purpose/Success driven in-house mentoring
  • Health screening for each resident by Shelter, Inc.'s nursing consultant
  • Physical examination by a medical doctor
  • Vision and dental care
  • Clothing, prescription drugs and personal hygiene items
  • Career preparation
  • Group and individual counseling
