Transitional Living Program
Shelter, Inc.'s Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a program for adolescent boys ages 17 through 21. TLP provides a home-like setting where residents advance their education and learn to work and live in the community. TLP offers a safe and caring environment while preparing residents to be increasingly self-sufficient as they continue their growth towards adulthood.
Our experienced and professional counselors strive to motivate residents and facilitate the learning of basic living and social skills such as:
- Advancing their education to obtain a high school diploma or GED
- Obtaining and maintaining employment
- Developing interpersonal relationships and socializing skills
- Menu planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation
- Accessing and managing medical and dental care
- Obtaining and maintaining a checking and savings account
- Establishing credit
Our program provides:
- Purpose/Success driven in-house mentoring
- Health screening for each resident by Shelter, Inc.'s nursing consultant
- Physical examination by a medical doctor
- Vision and dental care
- Clothing, prescription drugs and personal hygiene items
- Career preparation
- Group and individual counseling
