Our Mission

Helping and protecting children who are abused, neglected, dependent or in need of supervision. We do this by:

	Providing 24-hour emergency and longer-term care
	Creating community awareness and education to prevent such abuse and neglect
	Promoting healthy families to reduce child abuse and neglect

Program Type: Emergency, temporary housing; case management services; assessments; referrals; short-term counseling and emergency foster care

Client Description: Adoptive children and adolescents who are experiencing individual problems and/or family conflicts

Age Eligibility: Birth through age 17

Length of Stay: Determined by the needs of the child or adolescent

Location: Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois

Referrals May Be Made By:

	Parents
	Social service agencies
	School or medical staff
	Police departments
	Clergy
	Concerned citizens
	Adolescents (self-referrals)

Fees: None

If you are having difficulties with your adopted child, Shelter is here to help. We are here as a resource for children and families with issues surrounding adoption and how it impacts the family.

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you locate appropriate services.

If the crisis is such that your child needs out-of-home placement, Shelter can provide emergency housing through our:

	Foster Care Program
	Boys Group Home
	Jennings Group Home for Girls
