Shelter, Inc.

Through our Healthy Families Program, Shelter, Inc. is reaching into the community to offer support, education and resources for first-time parents that are adjusting to their new baby.  Our Healthy Families workers provide home visitation services and promote positive parenting skills to prevent future abuse and neglect of children.

This interaction has drawn attention to the many un-met needs that these families are facing. In an effort to help these young families and infants, Shelter, Inc.'s Healthy Families Program hosts a year-round Baby Shower to collect donations of:

Books in Spanish and English, such as:

• Goodnight Moon
• Goodnight Gorilla
• Chicka Chicka Boom
• Runaway Bunny

Videos in English and Spanish, such as:

• 1-2-3 Magic video tapes
• "What to Expect When You're Expecting"
• "What to Expect the First Year"
• "What to Expect the Toddler Years"

Safety & Health Items:

• First aid kits
• Cabinet safety hatches
• Doorknob handle covers
• Safety plug covers
• Digital thermometers

Miscellaneous Items for Babies:

• 3-6 piece puzzles with large peg handles
• Baby spoons
• Bath toys
